CEO and Founder
Dr. Michael Shoemaker is the CEO and Founder of SciCat Oil LLC and is a proven oil and gas finder with 20 years of E&P operations experience in both unconventional and conventional plays worldwide. Prior to starting SciCat, Shoemaker was the Chief Geoscientist at Callon Petroleum, focused with the operations, development and exploration of unconventional plays in the Permian Basin with multidisciplinary expertise in conventional and tight rocks.
Before that, Michael was a lead prospecting geophysicist at BP America in conventional onshore plays where significant hydrocarbons were discovered using petroleum geology integrated with 3D seismic. After graduating, he was an expatriate geophysicist working for foreign international companies located in the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, and Malaysia where he prospected for Petronas.
Shoemaker holds a Ph.D. in Geophysics from the Missouri University of Science and Technology (formally the University of Missouri-Rolla) and has authored over 60 publications, and is the recipient of the 2020 AAPG Levorsen Memorial Award for innovation in subsurface exploration. He is a member of SEG, AAPG, SPE, and ARMA.
VP Operations
Michael Fenton has more than 20 years of industry experience with a strong record of accomplishments in drilling & completion operations and reservoir/production engineering. He has worked multiple shale, carbonate, and sandstone basins overseeing both vertical and horizontal wellbore design, field development and operations. Michael has held several positions of increasing responsibility from Operations Manager, Vice President of Production, and most recently Vice President of Operations.
He holds a Master of Business Administration in Energy Finance from Texas Southern University and Bachelor of Science degrees in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas and Environmental Sciences from the University of Colorado. Prior to college, Michael was a 2-time recipient of The Army Achievement Medal while serving in the US Army's 54th Signal Battalion.
VP Finance and Land
Chuck Hallbert is a former Vice President of BlueRock Energy Partners and is a Certified Professional Landman having worked for Marathon Oil Corporation and ConocoPhillips for land operations representing oil and gas assets located within the Gulf Coast region of Louisiana and Texas, including the Haynesville and Eagle Ford Shale as well as the the Permian Basin region. He is an entrepreneur with success in a wide variety of industries and is a current partner in 15 separate LLCs in labor, transportation, real estate development, and oil & gas royalty and management.
Mr. Hallbert is a former Marine and Army Aviation Warrant Officer and is the current representing Director for Churchill Casualty LTD located in Cayman. He holds an MBA from the Rice University Jones Graduate School of Business and a BBA in Energy Management from the University of Oklahoma.
ESG Strategic Advisor
Shane Quimby has 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry including extensive work in both active and passive seismic. Mr. Quimby has held various technical and managerial roles both onshore and offshore and has authored several published unconventional and conventional technical articles.
During his career he has worked in Asia, Europe, North America, and South America. He holds a B.S. in Geology and Geophysics from the University of Missouri-Rolla, and has a Master of Jurisprudence in Energy Law from the University of Tulsa.
